HP brings the world’s smallest all-in-one inkjet printer to South Africa

The HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3785 is the world’s smallest all-in-one printer, available at local retailers. Recommended to sell at R1 399, HP says the printer is the most affordable option for families, students and small businesses.

Having seen it in action during its local launch yesterday, we’re more partial to thinking it’s best put to use in a student setup, or perhaps a consumer that prides themselves on taking a lot of pictures with their smartphone.

To that end, the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3785 is designed by HP for mobility (while still being tethered to power). It is compact at 2.33 kg and 403 mm wide, making it fairly easy to move to different locations, should that be your need. Added to this is its wireless capabilities, allowing the DeskJet 3785 to connect with one’s smartphone or tablet via the HP ePrint application (iOS and Android).

On the printing side, the DeskJet 3785 uses two cartridges, HP’s 652 Black and 652 Tri-colour, each yielding approximately 120 and 100 pages respectively, according to the company. Furthermore, it can print up to 4800×1200 dpi (dots per inch) when printing from a computer.

Ink Star have the HP 652 Black and HP 652 Tri-Colour available in Compatible and Original types with the Compatible being XL capacity meaning double the print yield at a significant cost saving.

Other features on this compact unit include the ability to scan and copy (via the paper feeder), as well as boasting HP Scroll Scan, which lets users scan jobs from plain paper, photos and receipts.

With HP bringing the DeskJet Ink Advantage 3785 to South Africa as a solution for users that want to make the most of mobile photography, it should prove interesting to see if local consumers takes to it.
